Welcome to Signal Mountain! Come Thrive With Us!

Signal Mountain was used by Native Americans in the past to send smoke and fire signals across the Tennessee Valley. It was originally known as Signal Point and was a communications station at the time of the American Civil War. It was chartered as the Town of Signal Mountain in 1919. The town experienced growth mostly in the 1970s.

Signal Mountain is one of the most highly sought after suburbs in the Chattanooga area. It is a sparse, but affluent community, with it’s secluded and private small-town feel. It is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides, and is considered the safest community in the area.

Weekly Bluegrass music shows are held every Friday evening at the Mountain Opry. The Booker T. Washington State Park and the Green Gorge Park offer recreation facilities. A visit to the Chattanooga Regional History Museum may prove interesting to those hoping to learn more about the area’s history. Golfers can enjoy a round at the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club. Other attractions include Signal Point, Rainbow Lake, and Lines and Fairmount Orchards. Take the kids down to Pumpkin Patch Playground for an afternoon of fun, while the adults can head to the local downtown strip for shopping and dining.

Fun fact: Signal Mountain is not the actual name of the mountain- but of the town itself. The mountain range is called Walden Ridge.
